Our work feedback

We are very grateful to GVC for giving us such great opportunity to work as one team. We all enjoyed the experience greatly. Our team was lucky enough to have all skills needed for the work.

All schools have contributed in all aspects of the project, writing, drawing, computer part but we all have special skills that were of the most use for the project.

All kids worked in collaboration with the partners in creating their lessons. They didn't have such things as "our work" - "your work". The first priority was to help partners, with texts illustrations, pages.

American students were good text writers and excellent illustrators. We are impressed by the quality and quantity of their work.

Croatian students are very creative writers and their language skills are impressive. We all value their help with interactive exercises.

Russian students, although not very good with the laguage, were useful with illustrations and technical part of the project.

Kids and teachers are very sorry that the project has finished. We wish we could go and go on working. We have decided to keep in touch and work on our own projects in future. We want to thank GVC for creating the team GVC 06-03!

We love GVC! It is a great project! We don't see foreign people in our city. GVC gave us chance to meet foreign friends. Our team is wonderful. We learnt a lot about the USA and Croatia. It was very interesting to behave like teachers in our topic and teach many lessons.
We liked to write, to draw and do pages.
We want to work in team GVC 06-03 again.

We have become better writers in English! It was hard at the beginning but later we understood the point and worked together and in groups. We talked a lot about our ideas.

It was very interesting to see and read what our partners were doing. Sometimes we were unsure about what steps to take, but working with others showed us the right way.

Our teacher was encouraging us all the time. She taught us to think critically and to revise each piece of work in order to make it better. It took time to understand that she didn't criticize us but the things we did.

Our feedback on GVC project is very positive. We didn't avoid to ask each other and our teacher about the difficulties. We wanted to improve all our abilities.

We didn't have a permanent access to the Internet and computers at school, but I think we did a very good job. Working with Hot Potatoes was exciting and we learned much.

GVC project makes sense and it was interesting. The knowledge we have achieved will be very useful in our future learning.

We made my spelling and grammar much better. We have also learned to write better.

We had an opportunity to see and read our own work in more critically way. Our partners were our motivation to try our best all the time After all, we are richer in knowledge than before and we will try to improve our weaknesses in the future.

We asked a lot of questions during our work on this project. It was the best way to get advice from our three teachers. Sometimes we couldn't decide on some parts of the assignment because we weren't sure if something was more important than other part. It wa easier when our teacher told us that she was learning together with us.

We really hope that our ideas are useful for others in this project. We were learning so much about new topics.

Our English grammar is better now. GVC project helped us to identify our grammatical "key troubles."

We learned to be our own better reader because we practiced reading our work critically. Now we are more able to think about our writing problems that we have had in the past. We were looking over our papers all the time. We gave ourselves more critical distance from our writing than before by coming back to them more often so we were able to offer ourselves better solutions.

Drawing for our partners and illustrations for their works was amazing. We felt responsible for what will appear along with thier stories. We learned much about Russia and USA.

We tried hard to have a clear understanding of the material we worked on. We have improved our English by learning for a purpose.

Feedback from teachers

We, as teachers involved in the Global Virtual Classroom project, feel that by doing activities such as this with our students that we are preparing them to think globally. Our students must be prepared in the area of technology and in the global arena in order to have a successful future. We also feel that by raising awareness of other cultures, we are teaching our students to respect and tolerate diversity. Our students have learned the huge lesson that even though students may speak another language, eat different food, or have different holidays that they celebrate, we are all very similar in so many ways. We are all human beings and we must learn to co-exist in this big world that we call Earth.
Deborah Holt and Milana Zubritskaya

GVC project has been a real challenge for my students and for me. In spite of the fact that we've had a number of obstacles and difficulties during the working process (the lack of Internet and computers since the school has been under the reconstruction), I would say that GVC was a precious experience.

With the emergence of new technology , which brings us together , the kids have had an opportunity to learn new skills and expand their knowledge in various fields of subjects.

Of course, the major field was the English language. Learning and working in English, which is a foreign language for my students, they have improved their writing and speaking skills in great deal.

The students have gained familiarity with the terminology in Science and Literature as well as in oral fluency . In addition, because the final product will be a common work compiled into a web-site , the students have also gain ed increasing interests to the idea of working with their partners from the USA and Russia. Lastly, students have develop ed their ICT skills .
I t is important to note that especially in an intensive language learning , where students have had a number of reasons for using English, the GVC project have been a wondeful experience for all involved.
