Skateboarding
Skate boarding was invented in 1961 mostly by a group of surfers who wanted to recreate the feeling of riding a wave on the side walk. Then , in 1965, a group of so called safety experts stopped skate boarding because they called it unsafe. This is one of many slumps skate boarding will have. In about 1970 the prevention was lifted and some of the first pros were made , like Tony Alva, and skate boarding rose again.
Skipping to the 1990's, new tricks and pros were made. Some tricks are casper , ollie, kickflip, and pop shove it. Some of the pro skaters are Daewon Son , Rodney Mullen, and Ryan Sheckler .
In conclusion I like skate boarding because it's fun and it relaxes me.
Football
Football is played with eleven players on each team, and four downs or plays to gain another first down to get at least ten yards down the field. The object of the game is to get the football down the field and into the in-zone without letting the other team get the ball. The offense is carrying or passing the ball down the field and the defense is trying to stop the other team by tackling the runner or quarter back in the backfield or behind the line of scrimmage.
The football season starts in August with the pre season games and doesn't wrap up until February with the Super Bowl. Personally my favorite professional team is the New Orleans Saints.
Basketball
Basketball was invented in 1891 by James Naismith in the town of Springfield , Mass. There are thirteen basic rules to this sport. In my opinion , you should be untouchable on the court. There are 5 people on each team. There are two ways that you play basketball, on offense and defense. Offense is when a team has the ball and defense is when the team has to prevent the other team from making the point . There are different kinds of shots in basketball. You have the free throw ,a lay-up, a three point shot ,a two point shot, and a rebound shot. The rebound shot happens when a player shoots and misses, but a teammate gets the ball and makes the rebound shot. A lay-up is when a player hits the back board and makes the hoop ( also known as a shot ).There are a lot of people who became famous in the United States playing the sport such as Michael Jordan, Yao Ming ,& Shaq.
Baseball
In the United States, we are known to have baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and Chevrolet! We will explain the sport of baseball.
Baseball is a sport played between two teams usually of nine players each. It is a bat-and-ball game in which a pitcher throws (pitches) a hard, fist-sized, leather-covered ball toward a batter on the opposing team. The batter attempts to hit the baseball with a tapered cylindrical bat, made of wood (as required in professional baseball) or a variety of other materials (as allowed in many nonprofessional games). A team scores runs only when batting, by advancing its players—primarily via hits—counterclockwise past a series of four markers called bases arranged at the corners of a ninety-foot square, or "diamond." The game, played without time restriction, is structured around nine segments called innings. In each inning, both teams are given the opportunity to bat and score runs; a team's half-inning ends when outs are recorded against three of its players.
