Egypt
GebSeb, Deb, Qeb, or in English, Geb, is the all-powerful Egyptian Earth God. From Helipolis in Lower Egypt, he was the first Pharaoh and held the throne. In fact, he was one of the first gods. At old age, Geb passed the throne to his son, Osiris. (Every new Pharoah claimed to be the descendent of Geb.) Geb's goose, which sits on his head, had a cosmic egg that contained the sun. Geb's loud laughter is known to create earthquakes. Text and Drawing: Garrett C., Santan JHS Citation: http://www.nemo.nu/ibisportal/0egyptintro/1egypt/index.htm. 1/31/06 |
