Gobies are usually four to ten inches in length. They have very dull colouring on their bodies. Their body's are gray with blotches of black and brown all over. Their dorsal fin has a big black spot on it.

People can call gobies all kinds of. I would just say if i was to catch one"I caught a fish!".The goby has many names.Ther is two very common gobies in lake erie. They are referred to as the round goby and the sculpting goby.
Gobies are common in rivers and mostly the great lakes .Although their habitat is rivers and lakes they prefer the lakes. They can be found in lake: Michigan, Huron, Erie, and superior.they can be found in all the great lakes but one. do you know which one? if you guessed lake ontario your right!

Gobies belong to a family of fish that can survive in fresh water and salt water. They were not found in the great lakes till 1995 . the first turn up was a round goby. he was found in lake superior's, superior harbor area in 1995. That is the year i was born! They presumed that it was discharged by trans-oceanic ships.

It is hard to tell a sculpin and a round goby. apart. But there is a very easy way to tell. if you flip the goby. on its back you will see a fin on the stomach. this fin is called the fused pelvic fin. A round goby's fused pelvic fin is together in one piece. a sculpin goby's fused pelvic fin is in two pieces.

Gobies live at the bottom of
a lake or river. They like to perch up on rocks and other objects. gobies are
big feeders and are very aggressive. these fish will violently defend their
territory against weaker fish. Gobies have a well-developed sensory system.
that gives them a better ability to detect water movement. this can allow them
to eat in total darkness if they wish. It also gives them a big advantage over
other fish that live in the same
habitat.
Gobies are also capable of repopulating their species. the female goby can give birth up to 5,000 eggs. they usually give birth closer to the summer months. the males do die after mating.
