Video games are cool but they are a big distraction in our teenage years like instead of doing homework a lot of teenagers prefer to play video games and many times become addicted to the games. There are many types of games like action, sports, RPG, etc.
The last one are the most addicting ones like for example a game that you have to create a character and buy swords and kill monsters, do quests and is a other form to keep in touch with your friends because these games also have a chat room so it is fun and you can play with your friends in internet or LAN.
A lot of videogames are about violence, and that is a factor that parents should be aware of, in most of the games of Xbox or Playstation there comes a rating, and there you can see if that game is appropriate for your children. When a child is used to see blood and death, bad things can happen because they will think it as normal and usual, and that can affect their personal life.

So in conclusion video games can be a lot of fun if they are used in a good way, and maybe parents should be a little more aware of what their children play so in the future they can have a good life.
