Lance Armstrong

Lance Armstrong is the greatest cyclist that lives today. He was born on September 18, 1971 in Texas. He loved sports and grew up in Austin, Texas.

Armstrong began his sporting career as a triathlete, competing and winning in adult competitions from the age of 15. At 16 years old, Armstrong became a professional triathlete and became the national sprint-course triathlon champion in 1989 and 1990 at age 18 and 19, respectively.

Lance realized that he was best at bicycle racing. He competed as a cycling amateur and won the US amateur championship in 1991 and finished 14th in the 1992 Summer Olympics.

In 1996, Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer and had a small chance for survival. He beat the cancer and went back to cycling.

Lance Armstrong won the Tour de France seven straight times (1999-2005). The Tour de France is a hard three week cycling road race throughout France.

Lance Armstrong founded the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) in 1997. The LAF has sold more than 70 million yellow wristbands to date. The money raised goes to cancer research and to support those living with cancer.

Lance Armstrong is a great cyclist. He also developed great faith to beat the cancer growing in his body.
