Michelle Kwan

Michelle Kwan is a famous figure skater from Torrance, California. She has won several medals and has won the hearts of people.

Michelle Wing Kwan was born on July 7, 1980 in Torrance, California. She had a childhood name, Shelly. She is 26 years old.

As a child, Michelle Kwan grew up speaking Guangdong and English at home. She was bilingual in both languages.

Kwan became interested in skating when she was five years old when she followed her two older brothers and sister. Her brother Ron was an ice hockey player and her sister, Karen was a figure skating athlete on the ice. Both of them loved practicing on the ice. Michelle started serious training at about 8 years old. She practiced three to four hours every day.

Michelle Kwan achieved a lot of awards. She has won nine U.S. championships, five world championships and two Olympic medals.

Michelle wrote an inspirational book called The Winning Attitude: What it Takes to be a Champion. Michelle Kwan shares her experiences with the world that it is important to be persistent, motivated and think positively.

Michelle was a very motivated person. Through her hard work she has won many Olymic Medals.
