Terrorism Has Become More Common
By Reott R (WM)
Terrorism, a word that strikes fear and controversy into the hearts of people all over the world. Will terrorism destroy us in the future or will it be just another page in the history books? Today terrorism runs rampant through the Middle East, but it does not remain in a cage there are terrorist organizations in China, Ireland, America, and all over the world. So what will terrorism really turn out to be?

The word terrorism defined by the United Nations is, "any act intended to cause death or serious bodily harm to civilians or non-combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or an international organization to do or abstain from doing any act." Terrorism at its core is not meant to cause direct damage to a country or to hider them militaristically, although these are often considered when targets are chosen. Terrorism is meant to create a psychological shock to a country, to destroy national monuments or to kill civilians. The idea is if something the people follow is targeted and people killed, enough grief will cause a reaction whether it be the fire and passion of the peoples hate or a military action by the country or organization attacked.

According to www.terrorism-reserch.com it is expected that terrorists will be using cyber terrorism (ruining national or international computer data) as a more formidable way of attacking organizations or countries. Is cyber terrorism a real threat? Many experts agree cyber terrorism has been on the increase from year 2000 and has increased twenty percent since then. Cyber terrorism could be the next major movement for terrorism Will it replace the conventional terrorism? Most likely not. Once again due to the reason for terrorism, having a computer crash doesn’t have the same shock value and therefor cannot completely replace normal terrorism.

Within recent years the knowledge about terrorism has skyrocketed in countries were it was rarely heard, such as America, England, and France. And in some ways terrorism has gotten stronger because of it. "One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter", is a popular saying these days and its true terrorism organizations now recruit throughout Europe and America, often to younger teens and disorientated or homeless people.  So what does terrorism mean for Gen Y? Computer and data destruction? Mass armies of disgruntled people seeking salvation? No one can really say for sure but in future times it can safely be said terrorism should be worried about and we should all tread carefully.
